LGBT YOUTH! SPEAK
OUT ABOUT YOUR SCHOOL
EXPERIENCES!
|
|
Help GLSEN (Gay,
Lesbian and Straight Education Network) inform
education policymakers and the public about what's
really going on in our nation's schools by
completing the 2007 National School Climate
Survey, GLSEN's fifth national survey about the
experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender students in school. The National
School Climate Survey documents the problem of
anti-LGBT bias in K-12 schools across the
nation. If you attended high school or
middle school sometime during this school year
(2006-2007) and are at least 13 years old, tell
GLSEN about your experiences in school. (If you
did not complete the entire school year you are
still eligible.) The survey is completely
anonymous. For more information and to
complete the survey online, visit: glsen.org/2007survey |

Tres Out-rageous

Out-rageous is back in its
third installment as Tres Out-rageous: When Life
Imitates Art. This unique event will be held
on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the beautiful
Walters Art Museum in Baltimore City. The
Ancient World Lobby and Sculpture Court of the
Walters Art Museum will take on a new life as we
fill it with a spectacle of color, sound, and
energy for a very special celebration - the 30th
anniversary gala for the Gay & Lesbian
Community Center of Baltimore (GLCCB). It
will feature spectacular visual presentations,
hors d'oeuvres, music,
dancing, and a whole lot more. Guests are
encouraged to dress "art-rageously" and imitate
their favorite piece of art.
To find out
more, or for information on sponsorship
opportunities or other ways to be involved in this
exciting event, call the Center at (410) 837-5445

Pride In The
Arts
|
On July 27th, the Center
proudly presented the artwork of Albert Schweitzer
as part of our new monthly 4th Fridays
Pride in the Arts program.
Albert lives in Baltimore, and
received his B.F.A. degree from the University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater. He received an M.F.A. from
the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Albert is a visionary artist who
paints quirky characters that occupy a world that
is filled with the various states of the human
condition and how they relate to the rest of the
world.
Albert exhibits frequently in New
York, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. His work is
in many private and permanent collections.
A portion of the proceeds from
auctioned art benefits the GLCCB and will help
sustain continued arts programming at the Center.
If you missed the July 27th event, there
are two ways you can check out and bid on the art.
You can place a bid on some of the art displayed
by clicking here to
visit our e-Bay listing, or you can contact Gary
at 410-837-5445 ext. 10 to schedule an appointment
for a viewing at the GLCCB and place a bid in
person.
Be
sure to mark your calendars for the next
reception/exhibition being held on Friday August
24th at 7:00 pm. This reception/exhibition will
showcase the art of emerging artist Mario
Fernandez and others.
For more
information, or to find out how to be considered
for the program, please call Gary at 410-837-5445
