Baltimore Pride 2007, one of our best celebrations
ever! As always, Baltimore's GLBT community
rose to the occasion to make ours one of the
finest Pride events around. A special thanks

Back to
School
|
 Soon students everywhere
will be headed back to school. The Center
hopes to be among the destinations for some people
ready to learn.
This fall, the Center will launch a new
program called ACE (Acheive, Cultivate, and
Educate) which will consist of an array of
enrichment classes that will teach people new
skills, offer valuable information related to a
specific area or issue, or even put them on a path
to a happier, healthier lifestyle, all in a
GLBT-affirming environment .
Some
course offerings being considered are American
Sign Language, health and wellness, yoga, beginner
guitar, basic HTML/web programming, adoption and
surrogacy, and legal strategies and planning,
among others. All courses will be geared
towards GLBT audiences and taught by qualified
instructors. Individual classes will meet
regularly at the Center for approximately six to
eight weeks . A second
"semester" will be added in the spring of 2008
with new and continuing courses.
Tuition fees will vary depending on
the class, but all are designed to be
affordable. Center members do receive a
discount. A limited number of scholarships
will also be available based on need. Watch
for more information in the coming weeks about
this exciting new program. If you are
interested in knowing more, would like to suggest
a course offering, or are interested in being an
instructor, please call Gary Wolnitzek at the
Center at (410) 837-5445 x 10 or e-mail gwolnitzek@glccb.org.

iNto OUT Art
|
On June 22nd, the Center hosted
the iNto OUT Art Auction as the kick-off event for
the GLCCB's new monthly 4th Fridays
Pride in the Arts program.
Twelve artists displayed their
works for auction, and community members attended
to bid on the 21 pieces of art submitted.
Subsequent monthly events will feature additional
artists' work in greater detail, in addition to
quarterly film screenings of local GLBT
filmmakers' works.
This program aims to increase
the exposure of local GLBT artists and connect
them with potential collectors from the community
as well as those who just appreciate art of all
kinds.
A portion of the proceeds from
auctioned art benefits the GLCCB and will help
sustain arts programming at the Center.
If
you missed the June 22nd event, you can still bid
on some of the art displayed by clicking here to
visit our e-Bay listing.
Be sure to mark
your calendars for the next reception/exhibition
being held on Friday July 27th at 7:00 pm.
For more information, or to
find out how to be considered for the program,
please call Gary at 410-837-5445 x 10, or e-mail.
